This comprehensive 40-CD collection provides an
extensive overview of country music from 1924 to
1960.
Most of the artists of this period are still well known
in today´s country and western music scene. Here, you
will not only find the top stars with their hits, but also
“second row” musicians.
After a short introduction of the history of country
music, the most important musicians are presented
with short biographies. As a surprise, this collection
contains first recordings from Kenny Rogers (1958)
and Dolly Parton (1959), who celebrated their biggest
successes in the mid-60s.
The booklet also contains many rare LP covers and sheet
music. The songs on the CDs are sorted chronologically
and the booklet also contains the highest entry of
the songs in the American Country & Western charts.
Only exceptions: Slim Dusty and Johnny Duncan & His
Bluegrass Boys, because they were only successful in
the UK. Johnny Duncan was an American citizen who
participated in the British “skiffle boom”.
