One of the most honoured and widely-lauded prima ballerinas of the Kirov, Ninel Alexandrovna Kurgapina (1929-2009), enjoyed a stunning 25 year career that witnessed legendary partnerships with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rudolf Nureyev and others. Kurgapina's admirers singled out the individual quality of her organic dance movements, coupled with a sense of undeniable playfulness that came to characterize all of her work. This compilation presents films of several of Kurgapina's most beloved dances, in productions including Minkus's Don Quixote, Drigo's Harlequinade, Strauss's Waltz and Adam's Le Corsaire.
