The shoulder pads may have got smaller, but KNOTS LANDING lost none of the high drama that made its parent show DALLAS such a runaway hit. KNOTS LANDING follows the fate of Gary Ewing (Ted Shackelford), the son of a wealthy Texan oil tycoon, whose alcoholism estranges him from the family. In an attempt at rebuilding his life, Gary moves to California where he is reunited with ex-wife Valene (Joan Van Ark) and their daughter Lucy. The scenic but insular cul-de-sac where they reside is a hotbed of neighbourhood politics, exposing all manner of scandal--from alcoholism to infidelity and rape. Such controversial topics made the show a prominent source of water cooler chat throughout much of the '80s. All 13 episodes from the first series are collected in this handsome box set.
