Little Hank
Little is known about Little Hank and his short-lived music career that saw just two releases on John Richbourg's Sound Stage 7 label. However, his song "Mister Bang Bang Man" became an instant hit on the Mod/Soul scene when it was given a British release on London Monument on 11th November 1966. It remains an anthem on the UK soul scene to this day. Hank's lesser-known debut single "Try to Understand" is the B side to this 7" and was a USA-only release in October 1965, but it is currently gaining popularity in the Northern Soul and L. A. Lowrider scenes. At the time of its release, "Try to Understand" was covered with success by Lulu & The Luvvers, the British Modbeats and by Cindy Malone. This single is presented by Club Soul in single packaging.
"Mister Bang Bang Man" is taken from the new Club Soul vinyl LP release The Scene Club, which is a collection of the classic tracks played at revered London Mod venue in the mid-'60s. The 16 cuts include gems from Alvin Robinson, The Dixie Cups, Chris Kenner and Bessie Banks, and are for the first time reissued on vinyl using new remasters from the original analogue tapes.
