Anne Sylvestre
Anne Sylvestre is a French singer and songwriter. She started singing in cabarets in the fifties and started recording in 1959. Her debut was a self-written 7" vinyl 4 track E. P. called "Porteuse D'eau" (Waterbearer). On her second E. P. "Les Cathédrales" she was accompanied by pianist François Rauber, well known for his long time cooperation with Jacques Brel. On her third E. P. "Chante" she's accompanied by George Brassens' long-time double bass player Pierre Nicolas and guitarist Barthélémy Rosso. Her songs encompasses a large range of subjects. Her love songs are often in a nostalgic mode and other songs could not be broadcast because of their strong engagement, and others contain profanity.
