The Art of War

Sun Tzu's The Art of War of one of the greatest books in human history, tens of millions of copies have been sold over the past two thousand and five hundred years. We only know this is a timeless classic that everyone can benefit from it. In this new version of the translation, I will translate Sun Tsz 's working in a completely new way. This version of the translation will be based on the original idea of Sun Tzu 's workings instead of direct word by word translation. Sun Tzu has written this book in more than two thousand five hundred years ago. The meaning of the original text is not easy to understand even for a native Chinese reader. Even recently published Chinese books which translated the original text to modern Chinese Language, they already have a different version with different kind of interpretation and explanations. To understand the true essence of Sun Tzu 's working is not easy. You must have an in-depth understanding of history and have excellent language ability. I reviewed many references for writing this book with some of the latest archaeology findings. I am glad to introduce such a new version of translation for all the non-Chinese readers. I believe that Sun Tzu 's workings can continuously benefit more and more readers in the future. Here are some highlights from the book: The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. If the enemy is strong and well deploy, we should avoid any direct conflict with them. Choose an unexpected timing for our military operation. We can determine whether we can win the war before the battle. The key is whether we have strong advantages in the criteria and factors for victory. Once we send out our hundreds of thousand army forces, we should be seeking a decisive battle as soon as possible. The army will be tired if the war lasts long, their force will be weakening. No country can be benefiting from a long-lasting war. The country may need to increase the taxes and duties for financing the battles. In such a case, the strength of our arm will be weakened, and the country will lose its wealth and reserves. It's better to take the enemy 's company forces instead of destroying all of them. If the weaker side in the battle insists on directly fighting with the enemy, they will eventually become prisoners of the stronger enemy. They can avoid mistakes as there are fulfilling those victory criteria, their enemy is destinated to be defeated in the battle.
