Natural Gum and Mucilage As Excipients for Development of Dosage Forms: Versatile Character of Fenugreek Seed Mucilage and Badam Gum Extrudate

Utility of the badam gum and the fenugreek mucilage as gelling agents in gels, film forming agents in transdermal films, binding and disintegrating agents in tablets and sustaining agents in matrix tablets has been demonstrated. These natural gum and mucilage are low cost alternatives to synthetic excipients due to their versatile properties, good release profiles, biocompatible nature, physicochemical and microbiological stability. The gum and mucilage can be used as natural excipients for development of different dosage forms.
