Effects of Migration on Agricultural Productivity in Nigeria
Ayodeji Ogunleye
The problem of population growth is not of numbers rather it is a problem of human welfare and of development. Rapid population growth, which has been linked to migration among other factors, can have serious consequences on the well-being of all humanity (Todaro et al., 2009). This Study showed that in-migration affects agricultural production of rural farm households because it poses pressure on available and otherwise fixed factors of production. This does not only reduce productivity but also increase the level of poverty and food insecurity among the rural farm households in Nigeria.
