This legendary complete recording by G. F. Handel's "Messiah" on 2 CDs from 1997 is now being released supplemented by an audiophile remastered Blu-ray audio disc. The Blu-ray audio features a stereo and a surround version in 24-bit / 96kHz as well as a Dolby Atmos mix in 24-bit / 48kHz. The sonorous, dramatic and yet light-footed McCreesh recording of the Messiah comes into its own in these remasterings.

The vocal soloists are also outstanding: Susan Gritton, Dorothea Röschmann, Bernarda Fink, Charles Daniels and Neal Davies. The British original sound ensemble Gabrieli Consort & Players under the direction of Paul McCreesh plays the "Foundling Hospital Version 1754" of the Messiah with great vitality and ease. The 32-page booklet contains the complete libretto, the complete instrumental line-up and an accompanying text in English and German written by the conductor.
